The Intex Trolling Motor is the perfect addition to an Intex boat, and is able to fit most Intex boat models, including: the Challenger 3; the Seahawk 2, 3, 4; the Excursion 3, 4, 5 and the Mariner 3 and 4 boats. This extremely quiet motor has a digital maximizer control module and water cooling system that supply only the necessary power this motor needs in order to go the desired speed making the motor more efficient and providing longer running times. The boater will be able to, more effectively, control the boat speed in changing environments as well. The motor’s “Soft Start” function helps to increase the motor’s life through limiting how fast the motor can go from “OFF” to “ON.” Suitable for freshwater and saltwater adventures, the tilt⁄extend tiller makes handling a breeze and the weed escape mode helps the motor get out of weed tangles.

    Don’t buy, big hassle if you have problems, August 22, 2012

    This Intex Transom motor would be great if it worked. I’ve had one that would stop switching on, stop switching between speeds and just stop for no reason at all since first day I got it. Dealing with Intex Warranty? The Worst!!!! Hold time is at least 30 minutes if you can get in. Usually they are so swamped the message indicates to call back later. What does that say about their products? Not good I tell you. Anyways back to the motor, Intex claimed it was a manufacturer defect and approved the replacement. Ok so where’s my replacement motor? Well let me tell you. First they told me it was on its way and to keep my old motor because they didn’t need it. 3 weeks later I called to ask where’s my motor and they they couldn’t find record of the Original Warranty replacement. So, I made a new request this time wrote down the Claim number. It sat in limbo for 2 more weeks. Reason? Needed to provide online sales receipt. Sent sales receipt. 2 more weeks claim in limbo. Reason, they wanted the original UPS tracking number of the purchase to prove I purchased. What, the receipt isn’t good enough? Faxed original UPS Tracking number. 2 more weeks where’s my motor? You are approved they said. But didn’t have any in the wharehouse but there might be one somewhere in the wharehouse. We’ll give you call to confirm. This all started Last week in June 2012. Today’s dayte 8/22/2012. No motor, no refund still in limbo. If I had gone fishing more then I have I would’ve just bought a motor from a regular brick and mortor store. Cause there ain’t no fishing with no motor that Intex can’t replace or refund. Moral of the story, great motor if it works. Otherwise not so great!!! BTW Intex BITES!!!

    9/6/2012 Update. No motor in stock. Have to wait till they manufacture more from China. Might not get it till end of October. I’m sure summer fishing season will be done by then and I will have bought another motor by then. I told them it was a joke dealing with them and that I just want my money back. Refused! Intex doesn’t care about their products, their service and most importantly their customers. Also, did a google search on this motor. Seems to be a common problem with these. I think there is even a good review here that even posted they had a similar problem. Don’t buy this motor!! I’ll say it again, don’t buy this motor!!!

    I recently purchased the trolling motor and I have tried three brand new marine batteries in the last week. The battery meter goes down to half within like 20 seconds of connecting the motor to battery. Each time I returned the battery for a stronger bigger battery thinking this would do the trick. According to INTEX (could barely understand anything their operator was saying cause of heavy accent, and she had to keep putting me on hold to ask someone what to say cause she had no idea obviously) she just kept saying the problem is your battery…really?? after three batteries. And the last one was a deep cycle with more then enough amps per hour..Don’t know what to do next but will not be buying from rubberboats.com or Intex ever again….

    Don’t usually take time to write reviews. It’s free advertising for companies and I hate that, yet I’m glad there was some seemingly non-paid reviews & info [all over the web] to help me make a good shot at getting equipment to get the job done. In this case… fun… with some unexpected challenges. We just took a maiden voyage with this motor on an Intex Mariner 4 loaded to 485lbs of 2 people, stuff, an Optima 55 Amp-Hour Deep-Cycle Blue top battery charged on a Schumacher SE-70MA Fully Automatic Deep-Cycle Charger. >> Don’t believe it if someone tells you the new battery you just bought is “fully” charged, not only are they “partial charge,” special chargers for deep cycle make a BIG difference for battery performance on “every outing” and its life. This info comes from a professional electrical background and people in Forums.<<

    The trip was 3 miles of winding 30-50ft wide max creek width [out to a lake] with weeds growing to the top in many areas. Did some rowing from the back seat [pushing forward on oars] through the total weed coverage areas on the trip out to discover undergrowth & obstacles and the paddles worked ok. 40 % of the trip out was ok to troll on speed 1 or 2 without sucking up weeds [average 2-4 foot depth]. We found inflating the 5th air compartment or “keel” [adds v-shape to bottom] was giving us trouble getting across the shallow weedy surface so we deflated it and then had a “flat bottom” boat.

    On the way back we raised the motor/prop so the prop top was spinning above the water line, the bottom half of the propeller in the water. We “chopped” our way back through the weed areas quite well. We surprised the crap out of some Kayakers we met along the way asking how we could possibly get through this creek, they had never seen anything other than a “hand paddle” boat in there. In the clear areas we dropped the prop a few inches below the boat, dialed to 5 [top speed] and were surprised to find the bow lifting and a wake behind us. More than I expected from this motor on that inflatable boat loaded half of max weight [880max]

    The Mariner 4 & Intex motor hit the spot, very glad we bought them, and the Optima AGM “totally sealed” deep cycle battery. It was well worth the $240.00 Battery to travel 3.5 hours through that kind of load [weeds cause heavy current draw on the battery] and top speed when we weren’t in them and a 20% charge still left, according to a digital volt meter. 15 hours of research looks worthwhile now. Hope this can save someone anxiety trying to figure out which of what to get. The Mariner 4 is a great feeling boat too. Their design is hard to believe for the price. Truly happy with the combo.

    You do have to be aware “THE BATTERY METER ON THE MOTOR IS VERY CONSERVATIVE” designed to make sure you get home before the Battery dies. We made 70% of the return trip with the battery meter on the lowest of its 4 lights, 25% and in the red zone. During that time we ran the motor through 90% of the previous rowing areas, chopping our way across the top of the weeds.

    And – two people and 6 hours worth of stuff is about all we would want in that boat! Also, even the the Mariner 4 comes with a hand pump we used a Coleman blower for inflation/deflation which worked painlessly.
